Ask to make your student startup public

A team made in a course stays inside its university. Its owner asks the StartupCorners team to make the page public and open the fundraising tools.

A team made in a course is a student startup. A startup you create on your own, outside a course, is a regular startup and never needs to ask.

Until it goes public

  • Its page is seen only inside the university: by members of the school community, the course's staff, students and mentors, and the team. The card at the top of the sidebar says Inside and your university's name, with nothing to share.
  • Links, CRM (or Fundraising and Customers), the Investors directory, investor updates and the page's Funding section are hidden. Links you made earlier show nothing until then.
  • Opening one of these tools from a link or a bookmark says it opens when your startup goes public.
  • Everything else works: Tasks, Files, Messages, Calendar, KPIs, Analytics, the pitch deck, Mentors, Programs, Agents and Apps.

Ask

Only the team's owner (its lead) asks. Teammates see the same card and the request, without the buttons.

  1. Open Manage > Page: choose Edit page at the top of the sidebar. On Home, Ask to go public takes you there too.
  2. On the card that says your page is inside your university, choose Ask to go public.
  3. Answer What are you building? in a sentence. It starts from your tagline.
  4. Under What comes next?, pick Find customers, Raise money or Keep building after the course.
  5. Add Anything else? if you like.
  6. Choose Send request.

While you wait

The card says when the request was sent. The StartupCorners team answers within two working days, and your page stays inside the university until then. The owner can choose Take the request back, and ask again later.

If the answer is not yet

The card shows "Not yet: a note from the StartupCorners team" with their note, and the owner gets an email and a notification. When you're ready, the owner chooses Ask again.

If the answer is yes

  • Your page is public: anyone can open it. It shows a Started at badge with your university's name.
  • Links, CRM, Fundraising and Investors open. Your course work stays as it is, and the team stays in its courses.
  • Everyone on the team gets an email and a notification, and so do the professors of the team's courses.

If Manage > Page still shows the go public card, reload the page. Then share your link: see Share your public link.

Demo accounts can't ask to go public.
