How AI credits work

The assistant, your agents and their routines spend one balance of AI credits. You get 5,000 to start and 1,000 free every month, or 25,000 a month with Plus. How to see them, add more and what happens when they run out.

Updated Oct 27, 2026

AI credits are yours, not your company's. One balance pays for the assistant, every agent and every routine, whatever workspace you have open. 1,000 credits are worth $1.

How you get credits

  • You get 5,000 credits once, when you sign up, to try the assistant and agents. Until you spend some, the assistant's start screen says how many you have.
  • You also get 1,000 free credits every month, about 60 assistant messages. They are spent before your other credits and go back to 1,000 each month on the day you signed up. What is left of them does not carry over to the next month.
  • With Plus, $20 a month, you get 25,000 credits every month instead of the free 1,000 (see below).
  • Credits you buy never expire. The more you add at once, the more bonus credits you get.
  • Founding Members get 120,000 credits.
  • Invite people with your referral link: when someone finishes onboarding with a business email, you each get 2,500 credits. Find the link on Invite people, under Your referral link.

Each chat reply or routine run takes what it used from your balance: a few credits for a short answer, more for a long one or for an agent that does a lot of work. Building a page is free, and so are questions about how StartupCorners works.

Plus

Plus is a monthly plan for people who use the AI a lot: $20 a month for 25,000 credits every month, about 50 assistant messages a day (an agent that does a lot of work, or a routine, uses more per run). While it runs, its credits take the place of the free 1,000: they are used first, and what is left of them does not carry over to the next month. Credits you bought stay as they are.

Get it on Billing, under Your plan, with Get Plus. It renews each month on the day you started it. Cancel Plus keeps it, and what is left of its credits, until the end of the month you paid for; after that you get the free 1,000 a month again. Until then you can choose Keep Plus. Plus can't be bought in the phone app yet.

Questions about StartupCorners are free

Asking the assistant how StartupCorners works costs nothing: how to do something, where something is, or how a feature works. These answers use no credits and add no line to History. The assistant answers them even when you have 0 credits, in the app and in Slack, Discord or Telegram. Chats with an agent and routine runs are charged as usual, whatever they are about.

If the same message also asks the assistant to do something, like book a meeting or change your profile, it is charged as usual. A very long answer is charged too.

See your credits

At the bottom of the menu you see a line like "10,070 credits" with Top up, and under it how many of this month's free credits are left, with a bar ("640 of 1,000 free left this month"). Under 2,000 credits the line turns orange, reads like "1,400 credits left" and Top up becomes a button. At 0 it reads "credits, AI paused" with Add credits. In the menu with your name, choose AI credits to open Billing. When the menu is collapsed to its narrow rail, the line is not shown; your avatar gets an orange dot when credits are low, and the same menu has the balance.

Your main agent shows your balance beside its name only when it is low: "1,400 credits left", or "No credits left", with Top up.

Billing has four tabs:

  • Overview: your credits in all, then Free this month (what is left of the 1,000, and when they come back; Plus this month on Plus) and Your credits (welcome and bought credits, which never expire), Your plan, Add credits and Auto top-up.
  • Payment method: the card used for adding credits and auto top-up.
  • History: everything that came in and went out, in credits. Filter with All, Added or Spent.
  • Usage: the credits you used per day, and by assistant or agent, over 7d, 30d or 90d.

If you had AI credit before

Your balance moved over as it was: $1 became 1,000 credits, so nothing is lost. Accounts from before October 24 that had the old credits got their bought credits at 10 new credits each, plus 10,000 welcome credits. If auto top-up was on then, it was turned off: turn it back on in Billing if you want it.

A notice, Your AI credit is now in credits, explains what changed on your Home and on Billing for 30 days, or until you close it.

Add credits

Pick $10 (10,000 credits), $25 (26,000, with a 1,000 bonus), $50 (55,000), $100 (115,000) or Other (whole dollars from $10 to $500, with the bonus of the step below it) and pay by card at checkout. The steps, auto top-up, cards and receipts are in Buy AI credits and manage billing.

When you run out

The assistant shows Out of AI credits, "Add credits to keep chatting." with the day your free credits come back, and an Add credits button. Your agents stop replying until you add credits or your free credits come back. Scheduled routines pause: turn them back on afterwards. To keep one agent from spending too much, give it a daily limit (see Choose what an agent may do on its own).
