Add an agent to your team

Agents are AI teammates that work for you, on your company, or on a community or program you run. Give one a name, a face and a job, then chat with it.

Updated Oct 26, 2026

An agent works on one place: just you, a company you are on (a startup, an organization, or an investor or mentor page), or a community or program you run. It sees and changes only what is there. Each agent has its own chat, its own routines and a Library of the pages it wrote.

Your main agent

Everyone starts with a main agent, called Assistant until you rename it. It sits first in Agents with a Main tag and Works everywhere under its name. It works in whatever workspace you have open, like the assistant, and keeps its chat, routines and Library like your other agents. In its Details you can change its name, give it a New face and tell it how to work with you. It stays on your team: it has no Remove from team.

You can reach every agent from any page too: Ask AI opens your AI team in a window over the page, with your main agent selected. See Ask the AI assistant.

Create an agent

  1. At the bottom of the menu, choose Agents.
  2. Choose New agent (the round + button beside Agents). With no agent yet, you can also pick one of the roles shown on the page.
  3. Type a Name, then pick a Face and a Colour, or choose Upload a picture. Shuffle shows other faces.
  4. Under Works on, pick Just me, or a place under Companies, Communities or Programs.
  5. Optionally pick a role under Start from a role (optional), such as Investor relations, Sales or Chief of staff. A role gives the agent its job description and ready-made routines. Roles are for agents that work on a company. The roles you see depend on your company: a startup made in a course gets Investor relations, Sales and Partnerships once it goes public.
  6. Choose Create and chat. The agent's chat opens.

With your company open, you can also ask the assistant (Ask AI) to add an agent that works on it.

Chat with your agent

Write in the box at the bottom of its chat and press Enter. To talk instead, choose the microphone button (Speech to text), shown in browsers that support it. The line under the box says where it works and what it may do on its own. An empty chat with your main agent shows prompts for the page and workspace you have open: picking one only fills the box.

When the agent writes a page (a report, a draft, an update), the page opens beside the chat. Every page it wrote stays in its Library tab, under This week and Earlier. From a page, Copy copies its text and Open in Files opens it in your files.

Each reply is paid from your AI credits (see How AI credits work).

Change or remove an agent

The panel beside the chat has three tabs: Details, Library and Apps. On a smaller screen, open it with the button at the top right of the chat.

  1. Open Details and scroll to Settings.
  2. Change its Name, its Role, how it works or what it remembers (one line each), or choose New face.
  3. Choose Save changes.

What it may change on its own, the apps it sees and its daily spending limit are under What Maya may do, in the same place: see Choose what an agent may do on its own.

The Apps tab turns its apps on or off, and under Posts to lets it post in your Slack, Discord or Telegram channel. See Use an app inside a chat.

You can also tell the agent in its chat, for example "keep it shorter" or "remember that our fiscal year starts in April".

To remove it, choose Remove from team and confirm. Its routines and chat are deleted. Changes it already made stay.
