Turn on two-step sign-in
Protect your account with a code from an authenticator app each time you sign in with your email and password.
Updated Oct 27, 2026
Two-step sign-in (two-factor authentication) asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone after your password.
Turn it on
- Open Account settings from the menu with your name, then choose Security.
- Under Two-factor authentication, next to Authenticator app, choose Turn on.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, open Can't scan? Enter the key manually and type the key into the app.
- Enter the 6-digit Verification code the app shows and choose Verify and turn on.
- Save your backup codes with Copy codes or Download, then choose Done. They are shown only once, and each one works once if you lose your phone.
Sign in with it
After your email and password, enter the code from your app and choose Verify. No phone at hand? Choose Use a backup code and type one of your saved codes.
Turn it off
On the same page, choose Turn off, enter your password and confirm with Turn off. Your backup codes are deleted.
If you sign in with Google
Two-step sign-in here only applies to email and password sign-in. If you use Google, turn on 2-Step Verification in your Google account instead.
